Liebster Award!!!!

Thank you so much Margaret at youngandrungry.com.  This was a blessing today because I was stumped on what to write about. The Liebster Award is an award given to new bloggers by other bloggers as a way to support and promote each other in growing their blogs.  It’s a great opportunity to build up some connections and maybe even make some new blogger friends and I am so excited to have been nominated.

The Rules:

1. Post your award to your blog.
2. Answer the questions that you were given from the person who nominated you.
3. Nominate a few new bloggers you’ve discovered.
4. Create 10 new questions for the nominees.
5. Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog.

1. What inspired me to start a blog?
A movie. Julie and Julia which is about a lady who wants to start a blog and decides to cook her way through Julia Childs Mastering the art of French Cooking.  I have seriously watched that movie so many times I had to buy another copy.

2. When did I start running?
I never liked running.  When I joined the Army I was so horrible at running. After I ended my tour of duty I said I would never run again.  Then I joined the police department in Atlanta and got so tired of suspects running.  So I initially started to run then, however have been running races for three years.

3. What is something I have always been good at?
Making other people laugh.  I guess if I can't be happy I at least want to make others smile and laugh.

4. What are 5 things that bring me joy?
Ice cold Coke, my sons, making others happy, memories, Ambien (lol)

5. If you had to completely change the direction of your blog and could not talk about running or anything health related what would you write about?
   Probably my love of food.
6. What is the hardest thing to write about?
Once I can find an interesting topic, I can write forever, it is the initial topic that gives me the most grief.

7.What is the strangest and most embarrassing phase you have ever gone through?
I would have to say the high hair phase.  I used so much hairspray.  My hair was about two inches off my face and boardlike.  Sitting in front of a mirror with a hair dryer and hair spray.

8. What is the most spontaneous thing you've done?
Joined the Army I don't know what I was thinking, probably wasn't.
9.  What is something your followers don't know about you?
I hate the way I look.

10. How would you describe your personal style?
    I love simple plain cute.

My Nominations:

First time including links ~ Happy six months

I have been blogging for over a month and a half and recently got a new computer.  So I am trying to do link attachments today.  Hang in there with me as I try.  I am really just going to review some of the blogs that I am really loving.
jenchoosesjoy.com  I really love her blog and have followed it religiously.  I even met her last year at the Cumberland Plateau Stage Race.  She has great recipes, running tips, and is very involved with St. Judes Childrens Hospital

hungryrunnergirl.com  Janae is a runner from Utah with a super gorgeous daughter.  She is a very positive person with a really interesting life.

greatnowwhatsk.blogspot.com This is a blog that I recently started following.  Shay writes great stories about her and her husband's adventures in home renovation and she runs as well.

These are just a few I love reading everybody's blog. If I made a list of all the blogs I love it would be over a hundred.

Ok, so now a huge shot out to my friend Cat!!!!!  I am so happy to announce that she has made it six months clean and sober.   I love me some Cat.  She is the most supportive person in my life.  I met her at the hospital when she was at a whole new level of rock bottom.  To the point she had scraped holes in her forehead on a heroin binge and did not even realize it.  She weighed about 80 pounds, and looked like a zombie.  I do not know why I felt the immediate need to support her, I never had met her before this day.  I never even tried a cigarette in my life. I have never used a drug.  I had only seen the criminal side of drug use.  The theft, burglary, possession, and other related crimes often associated with drug use.  I knew I could help her.  Let me tell you that drug use has no boundaries. It can affect rich, poor, smart, dumb, good looking, ugly etc.  I am so happy to now know  how beautiful and smart Cat is.  She is the most caring and giving person and I wish her all the joy and health that I possibly can.  Overcoming drug addiction is not easy.  I would say it is one of the hardest things there is to do.

It is fall break this week for Shelby County Schools.  So I have a whole week of just me and Zachary and I am pretty excited to go for walks, lunches, and watching movies.  Zachary is the most low maintenance of all my kids, maybe I am just worn out?

I cannot wait to hear all the great race reports from Chicago, Kona, and the Army ten miler.  I have a lot of friends racing this weekend.

Were any of your friends racing this weekend?
Have you ever known somebody who was an addict?
Did the links work?  I hope so.

What I do in an average day

Well my life has been so much easier the last few years.  Just a brief history of my adult life.  I decided I wanted to go to college, huge mistake, and I will leave that alone.  After my brief stint at college I decided I wanted to go into the Army.  After serving 8 years of active duty as a military police officer, and having two small children I decided that I wanted to settle down somewhere and raise them. So I got out and joined the Fulton County Police Department (Atlanta, GA).  I loved being a police officer, it was so much fun and I worked with some awesome people.  After several years there, I had my youngest son who was premature and had some major medical issues (he has outgrown all them), and I decided to stay home with him for a few years.  I have worked at another police department which I won't mention for almost six years and left on a not so good note.  It was not anything I did.

So now, I stay at home and do not have to work!!!! Most days I get up super early and read blogs and catch up on Facebook.  I also feed the birds every morning. The birds literally wait for me to feed them. After Zachary leaves for school I straighten up the house do laundry etc.
Usually on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I go to spinning class and do strength training.  I may also get some treadmill miles in.  All the other days I run some fast, some distance, and some hills.  I also do a PIYO workout as well.

I do live up to the stereotype of watching TV most of the day, however I am always doing something.  I enjoy cooking meals and baking.  I rarely eat meals outside of home.  I just think my food tastes so much better and Zachary does too.
It is so nice to live a stress free life, which has not been easy for me to adjust to.  Going from chaos all day to peace and quiet was a huge change.  I am beyond grateful for this opportunity.

What does your day consist of?
Is your life chaotic/stressful?
Have you transitioned from being a full time worker to stay at home?
